THE landlord and landlady of a family pub are back behind the bar following a terrifying raid in the early hours of the morning.

Four men broke into The Rake, Rake Lane, Little Stanney, just before 2am on Monday, March 15.

They are believed to have gained access to the property through a first-floor window.

Police have confirmed the gang then entered the living quarters and ‘forcibly restrained’ the terrified landlady and landlord.

The raiders demanded access to the safe and stole what the police are calling a ‘significant amount of cash’.

They then fled the scene, leaving the couple shaken and distressed.

Jason Flexen, area manager for the Rake, a Greene King pub, said: “Although shaken up by the incident, those involved are completely unhurt.

“The police are currently investigating, in the meantime the pub has reopened and it is business as usual.”

Detective Constable John Perry, of Chester CID, confirmed that forensic investigations are on-going.

He said: “We would appeal for anyone with information relating to the ongoing inquiry to contact the police as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can help the police should contact Nadine Sturgess at Chester CID on 0845 458 0000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
