A SPLASH of colour will bring gardens to life this winter at an extra care development.
Residents have helped raise money to brighten up the gardens at Avantage’s Hollymere Extra Care Development.
Residents were invited to an afternoon of cheese and wine tasting at the scheme on New Grosvenor Road, where a raffle was also held to raise money for the Hollymere Garden Club.
Prizes were donated by local businesses including Asda, and the raffle raised £47, which will be spent on pansies.
Anne Prior, the event co-ordinator at Asda in Ellesmere Port, helped present the raffle prizes.
Local resident Ralph Gandy scooped a bottle of wine, Hollymere resident Tom Thorne won a necklace and fellow resident Hazel Collins collected the top prize of a wall clock.
Alison Parry, events and facilities manager at Hollymere, said: “It was great to welcome members of the local community into the scheme and the donations from Asda were much appreciated.
“The money raised will really help spruce up the gardens for winter and give the green-fingered residents a last bit of planting to do before winter really sets in.”
