THE award-winning Venture playground in Caia Park has received a £316,000 boost from the National Assembly Government.
The Garner Road project will receive the Communities First Outcomes funding during the next three years.
The Venture was established nearly 30 years ago, to help children, young people and their families develop their full potential as individuals and as members of the community.
It has developed a pioneering role in helping deter youngsters away from crime and anti-social behaviour.
The Venture is the largest self- build adventure playground in the UK – and holder of the Best Adventure Playground in Britain award.
In 2003 it was chosen by the Assembly as the model for its flagship programme of integrated children’s centres, which has now rolled out across Wales.
Wrexham AM Lesley Griffiths, who is patron of The Venture, said: “This funding commitment is superb news and is testimony to the great work that takes place at this flagship project.
“Throughout its 30-year history The Venture has gained the support of the people of Caia Park.”
