IT'S the Year of the Volunteer and AVOW, the Association of Voluntary Organisations in Wrexham, is celebrating with a fun-packed day.
AVOW is marking National Volunteers Week with a Volunteer Extravaganza and Football Frenzy fun day on Saturday, June 4, on Llywn Isaf, Wrexham.
More than 60 organisations and groups will attend the event with stalls and activities and stage events from drama to music.
There will be fun-filled events for children with a Star Wars v Harry Potter fancy dress competition, with prizes for the winners in each age group, a treasure hunt and other great games for the kids to get involved in.
The main event will be Football Frenzy, which will have teams of five players taking part in Wrexham's first Inflatable Human Table Football Tournament.
More than 3,000 people attended last year's event and AVOW are hoping to make this year's event even bigger.
HELP is at hand for those wanting to try their hand at historical research.
Staff from the Denbighshire Record Office will be at Llangollen Library on Tuesday, May 24, to publicise the services they offer and the wealth of resources available for those wanting to carry out historical research.
To coincide with their roadshow, Denbighshire's Record Office have produced a number of leaflets providing advice on planning a visit, family history, house history and old maps.
The leaflets are also available from the council's website: www.denbighshire.gov.uk
An archivist will be available all day to answer questions and offer advice on how people can start researching their family tree, the history of their property or local research in general.
