TRIBUTES have been paid to former Helsby Parish Council chairman Carole Jones who died after a long illness.
Mrs Jones, who died last Friday, became well respected in the community firstly for her work as a campaigner with the Helsby Action Group and then subsequently as a parish councillor.
She served alongside her husband Stan who is now employed by the parish council as a caretaker.
Two parish councillors who also served with her, Frank Thomas and Betty Williams, paid tribute to Mrs Jones at Monday's meeting.
Cllr Williams felt the council should write a letter of sympathy to Mr Jones. And Cllr Thomas said the funeral was due to take place on Monday at St Paul's Church in Helsby.
