THE Friends of Chester Millennium Greenway group is holding a Volunteer Day to plant saplings in recognition of the United Nations Year of the Forest.

Free sapling deliveries for the event on Saturday, April 16, have been arranged by the Royal Horticultural Society and The Woodland Trust as part of Britain in Bloom.

The volunteers have delayed their other tasks to make sure the saplings are planted as quickly as possible.

The award-winning Friends of Chester Millennium Greenway volunteers say they are honoured to be trusted with the important work of planting more trees to help wildlife and the environment.

The volunteers will also be planting more individually donated trees to celebrate the lives of loved ones.
