EIGHT former Woolworths employees have enrolled on a 12-week Skill Build programme at Wrexham ITeC.

They enrolled following an event in January at the Memorial Hall organised by the Economic Development Department of Wrexham County Borough Council in response to the loss of retail jobs within Wrexham town centre.

The women, who started their programme on March 2, spent the first four weeks gaining or improving a range of IT skills and job search techniques, including CV writing and interview technique.

They will go on to complete a short motivational programme and receive help and support from Wrexham ITeC in finding work placements or work experience in later weeks.

It is hoped work experience will turn into an offer of full-time employment – enabling them and their new employers to take advantage of the NVQ training offered by Wrexham ITeC.
