ANYONE interested in taking up crown green bowls is encouraged to attend a free day of training, led by qualified coaches, in Northwich at the weekend.

The event takes place at Vickersway Park, Manora Road on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm. Anyone aged over eight is welcome.

Vandals warning

NORTHWICH police are asking residents to be on the lookout for vandals in Weaverham.

There has been a rise in the number of criminal damage incidents involving cars in the area, with six vehicles outside Weaverham Forest Primary School damaged in one afternoon last week.

Officers at Northwich Neighbourhood Policing Unit are asking everyone in the village to be vigilant. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Dean Butterworth on 0845 458 6392.

Sex assault charges

A WINSFORD man accused of 15 sex offences has been remanded in custody by a judge.

David Worrall, 35, of Dee Way, pleaded not guilty at Chester Crown Court last Tuesday to nine counts of sexual assault and six of gross indecency with a child.

Recorder of Chester Judge Elgan Edwards ordered he be kept behind bars until a pre-trial review on September 22. A four-day trial is scheduled to begin on October 7.
