FOUR players have left Caersws to sign for local rivals Newtown.

The Robins’ manager Darren Ryan has captured the signature of defender Andrew Thomas, midfielder Neil Mitchell and strikers Mark Griffiths and Marcus Sharrad.

Caersws, who finished second-bottom of the Welsh Premier League last season, only avoided relegation as no team was eligible for promotion from the Welsh League in South Wales.

The exodus leaves the Bluebirds with a skeleton squad ahead of the new campaign, which begins on August 15.

Caersws’ first game is at home to Caernarfon Town on August 16.

Defender Chris Williams has re-signed for Gap Connah’s Quay amid speculation he was to sign for Tyneside Amateur League outfit Kicks FC.

Williams, who is preparing for a four-year football scholarship in America, said: “I am 100% committed to Steve O’Shaughnessey and Connah’s Quay Nomads until I go.”

Wing-back Martin Naylor, who was released by The New Saints at the end of last season, has joined AFC Telford.

Former Rhyl player Dave Cameron, now manager of Bradford Park Avenue, says he can’t wait to start working with former team-mate and new assistant manager Carl Ruffer.

He said: “I'll be delighted to finally get Carl in alongside me.

“I think it will be an ideal combination that will be good for Bradford.”

Meanwhile, Welshpool Town have signed defender John Boardman.
