THE death of a man whose body was found in the canal near the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port is not being treated as suspicious.
The body of 39-year-old Michael ‘Spike’ Johanson, from Ellesmere Port was discovered in the waterway on Sunday morning.
Police spokeswoman Shelley Williams confirmed a body had been found.
She said: “At just after 8.10am on the morning of Sunday, April 17, police were called to a report of a body found in the Shropshire Union canal in Lower Mersey Street, Ellesmere Port.
“The man has been identified as a 39-year-old local man. The death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner has been informed.”
