POTENTIAL foster carers are invited to find out more about the invaluable service at a series of coffee mornings to celebrate Foster Care Fortnight.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is holding the events in Ellesmere Port, Chester and Northwich on May 20 to promote foster care and celebrate the positive benefits that foster care brings to vulnerable local children.

The council is joining together with other local authorities across the North West region which are organising coffee mornings on the same day, in the hope of attracting lots of people interested in fostering to come along to find out more.

Cheshire West and Chester Council is being supported by Costa Coffee at the following venues:

Costa Coffee in Tesco, Frodsham Square, Chester, 11am-2pm

Costa Coffee in Tesco, Manchester Road, Northwich, 11am–2pm

Costa Coffee in The Coliseum, Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port, 11am-2pm.

John Stephens, director of children and young people’s services, said: “Foster carers perform an incredibly valuable role providing a nurturing and safe environment for local children, in the short-term or until they reach adulthood. It’s a challenging but also immensely rewarding job.

“Plus, foster carers receive an allowance to cover the cost of caring for a child, fees that recognise their skills, as well as lots of support and training.”
