MIKE Connett, the former Northwich Vics chairman, was arrested at his marital home last week on suspicion of assault.
Officers were called to his Knutsford home on Tuesday, November 11, after reports of a disturbance.
Mr Connett was subsequently arrested and spent more than 12 hours in a police cell before being released.
A Cheshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “A 56-year-old man from the Knutsford area was arrested on suspicion of assault in the early evening of November 11.
“He has since been granted bail to return to Middlewich custody suite on December 2.”
