A FORMER soldier has published a book about his life.

Dad-of-two Darrell Ellsworth, 29, launches his debut book on Saturday, March 6.

The book tell the story of Darrell’s life, including his time in the 3rd Battalion Parachute Regiment.

Darrell said: “It is about having fun, laughter, adventure, Army life, achievements, self-help and most of all a very happy ending.

“My late Nan always said ‘you could write a book about your life Darrell,’ so I did!”

Darrell, of Bolesworth Road, Chester, went to Cheshire Oaks High, Ellesmere Port.

His former teacher Paula Blakemore said of the book: “This is a story of a boy from a small town with big ambitions.

“Darrell’s early journey will be a familiar one for many readers.

“When he reached his teens, he had a choice whether to take the familiar route of many of his peers or whether to reach higher to be someone and achieve something.

“He chose the harder path and joined the forces.

“His vivid description of life in the services is fascinating as is his story of the difficulties that he faced when making the decision to leave.

“An absorbing and exciting read that will make you laugh and make you cry. Prepare to be inspired.”

Darrell attends West Cheshire College and plans to become a PE teacher. He is sports and social officer at the college and is running for president of the student union this year.

Darrell lives with his wife Natalie and son Joshua, two. He sees his daughter Lillie at the weekends.

Darrell is launching his book at Waterstones, Chester, on Saturday, March 6, from 11am-1pm.
