NEWLY qualified RAF officer Martyn Hooker has graduated with flying colours.
The 22-year-old former Hartford High pupil, whose parents Graham and Joanne still live in Northwich, graduated from the Initial Officer Training (IOT) course as an acting pilot officer.
Martyn joined 124 other cadets at RAF Cranwell, Lincolnshire, outside the historic college to parade – an occasion marked by Tornado fly-bys.
The course, over 32 weeks, combines basic military skills, theoretical and practical leadership training, physical and adventure training, general service and professional studies and command and management responsibilities.
Martyn, a former cadet with the 146 Northwich and Liverpool University Air squadrons, joined the RAF in July and will now begin his professional training as a pilot.
