PREPARATIONS are in full swing to make this year’s 60th anniversary Hartford Rose Fete the most memorable yet.

Organisers from Young Hartford NSPCC say the fete funds the children’s charity.

To help celebrate the big day on Saturday, June 14, all previous rose queens, retinues and committee members are being invited to join in the celebrations.

An appeal has also been made for old photographs and other memorabilia to include in a Memory Lane display.

The diamond anniversary rose queen and retinue will be chosen on Saturday March 15 at selections in the village hall on Chester Road between 2pm and 4pm.

The selections are open to all boys and girls who either live or attend schools in Hartford. Girls eligible to bid for the titles of rose queen, bouquet bearer or Fairy Queen should be in Year 6 at school and have been in the rose fete on at least one previous occasion.

All those interested are asked to register their name and date of birth before March 15 with Mary Parkes on 01606 75703. Anyone with memorabilia should contact Linda on 01606 59828.
