A FORMER Ellesmere Port mayor has celebrated his 100th birthday.
Harry Evans was born in Ellesmere Port on April 26, 1910, one of 13 children.
He worked at Shell as a chemical operator until his retirement in 1970.
Harry married his wife Marjorie Smith on December 3, 1938, at Ellesmere Port Parish Church.
The couple had two children, Susan Ellen and Roland Francis.
Harry was a councillor for the Groves Ward of Ellesmere Port and Neston Council for more than 20 years and mayor in 1984.
For services to the community he was granted the office of Honorary Alderman at a special meeting of the council held in 1999.
Like his wife Marjorie, he was active supporter of the Ellesmere Port Branch of the RNLI.
Harry celebrated his centenary at the Elms Hotel, Saughall, on April 24 with his family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
