Upton-by-Chester High School history teacher, Katy Main, has been selected by the British Council to attend the History and Remembrance of the First World War workshop in Verdun in April.

Katy is one of only three teachers from the UK chosen to attend this event joining a total of approximately 37 teachers from Slovenia, Italy and Germany.

The aim of the event is to meet other teachers with a view to creating a partnership between schools and starting an online e-twinning project on the theme of WWI.

Upon hearing the news, Katy said: “As we approach the centenary of WW1, it's a fantastic opportunity to work with European partners to share cross-border perspectives.

“I am excited at the prospect of developing an online project for our students as it will enrich their historical understanding.”
