A JUNIOR football team from Winsford is kitted out in brand new shirts and shorts thanks to a generous donation.

Weaver Vale Housing Trust gave a £500 grant to Winsford Junior Blues U13s to fund the new strips and some training equipment.

The money came from the Trust’s community assistance fund, which aims to help community organisations and groups across Vale Royal that develop and make a positive contribution to the area.

Junior Blues manager Neil Corbin said: “The club’s very grateful for the grant. It’s made the difference between the team playing in a brand new kit this year or playing with a second hand kit for a second season.”

There is still money remaining in this year’s community assistance fund, and the Trust is encouraging other organisations to come forward.

“If you know of a project that could benefit from our support we’d be delighted to hear from you,” said a spokeswoman. For more information on applying for grants, contact Georgia Winstanley at Weaver Vale Housing Trust on 01606 813413.
