WINSFORD United started their preseason campaign on the front foot after keeping a clean sheet against Whitchurch Alport.
The Cheshire League Division Two outfit could not cope with the Blues’ attacking threat and United claimed a 4-0 win and a worthwhile workout.
Assistant coach Tony Ledwards said: “We were chuffed with that. The lads did really considering most of them have never played together before.
“It was a good workout and we used about 17 players. We can look forward to Thursday night.
“Things are not going to happen overnight but hopefully we can steady the ship and then the future will be a lot better.”
United host Crewe FC tomorrow at Knight’s Grange Leisure Complex (6.45pm).
