THE First Hartford Scouts will kick off its centenary celebrations on July 4.

And it has unveiled a new banner and clothing which bear the centenary logos they designed themselves.

The banner’s first outing will be at the July 4 opening centenary ceremony at the Scout Hall, Bradburns Lane, from 3-8pm.

A hog roast and barbecue and an activities afternoon will be held for present Scout members, leaders and their families.

Further events to include the many past members and leaders are planned throughout the centenary year, and will be publicised in due course.

Linda Barnes, executive committee member of the group, said: “A thriving and active group such as Hartford is very much reliant on the commitment and support of its leaders and helpers.

“If you would like to discuss how you can be involved in working with young people while utilising or increasing your skills and making new friends, phone Graham Wallace on 01606 77459 for an informal chat.

“Alternatively, you can visit the website www.scouts.org.uk/parents which gives details of what scouting can offer both children and adults.

“So don’t be shy, give us a try.”
