RECYCLING will be boosted by every school in Wrexham.

All the authority's schools will sort their own paper, which will be taken to UPM Shotton for recycling. The company has spent £100,000 developing an education pack for primary schools, which includes a recycling video featuring Vernon Kay.

The pack is designed to cover areas of the National Curriculum at Key Stage Two and Three while raising awareness of environmental issues.

Schools also have a CD-Rom teaching them about recycling and the paper cycle. Workbooks which contain a recycling diary, recycling targets and a series of exercises are specifically designed to motivate young children and help them learn the Three R's - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

John Bradbury, the council's chief community services officer, said: 'Recycling is an important part of protecting our environment and children are very keen to help. The use of this pack in our schools will ensure that recycling becomes a way of life in the future.'
