COLWYN Bay manager Gary Finley is awaiting the outcome of late fitness test on three key players ahead of the first of three home matches to wrap up their programme starting with today’s familiar opponents Gresley Rovers.

Central defender Tim Brandreth and goalscorers Neil Black and Darren Wright are all doubtful starters, but Finley is delaying making a final selection until their positions are clarified.

Brandreth has been out of action since collecting a knock in the 2-2 draw at Gresley a fortnight ago after the Seagulls led 2-1 at the break while Black aggravated a knee problem in the stunning 3-0 win at Skelmersdale on Easter Monday.

Wright, who like other team-mates has turned out despite carrying a niggling injury, could also get the nod.

“At this stage all I can say is that they are in the squad but who actually plays we shall not decide until just before the kick-off,” said Finley.

Having challenged his side to wrap up their campaign with five wins out of five Finley is already in the heartening position of having ticked off the first two with three to go.

Now poised in sixth the Bay know their fate is still outside their control and need rivals to falter to stay in contention.

“All we can do is make sure we collect all nine remaining points on offer and see where that puts us,” added Finley.

“I can’t praise the lads highly enough for the way they’ve responded since I came here in January.

“If someone had told us back then that with three games left we could still finish in one of the play-off places we would have jumped at it.

“I couldn’t have asked for more and the rare bonus of these consecutive home matches to end the season gives us a chance we must take.”
