A YOUNG director has thanked Yale College, Wrexham, after achieving success in the Royal Television Society awards.

Stephen Dunne, 21, won the RTS North East and the Border Centre accolade for Best Student Drama with his film This Old Dog, which stars Philip Martin Brown of BBC’s Waterloo Road fame.

Stephen said: “Yale was an absolutely fabulous place to study.

“I originally took photography there, but never realised how much was available.

“My eyes opened to filming – it was more advanced than photography.

“I had a great tutor who helped me and was supportive, pushing me on to university.

“Without them, I might not have made it as a director. I learned an awful lot from making films at Yale.”

Stephen, who now lives in Manchester, is writing the first draft of his own production, which he hopes to direct. He also has an ambition to set up his own film company.

He would like to obtain an MA while studying at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, London.
