From Cllr Doug ShinglerMayor of Vale Royal

This year we’ve really started to see the effects that our changing climate is having. The severe weather brought disasters and suffering to many parts of the country and we were very lucky in Vale Royal to escape any serious damage.

I’m sure the winter will bring even more harsh weather and I would ask everyone to take extra care of each other over the next few months. Please take time to check if an elderly or vulnerable neighbour needs your support.

Again, this year, I have met so many wonderful and dedicated people who play many important roles in our community and I thank them for sharing their experiences with me.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and very happy New Year.

From Cllr Les Ford Leader, Vale Royal Council

2007 has been an extremely exciting year for Vale Royal Borough Council. We’ve gained many accolades for excellence in the way we deliver your services and I would like to thank our employees for their continued commitment.

We had hoped, by now, to be celebrating the announcement that Cheshire will be reorganised into two authorities. The Secretary of State has delayed her final decision but, rest assured, you will continue to receive the highest level of service from Vale Royal as we wait for the outcome.

We believe that our bid to become part of the Cheshire West and Chester authority, working alongside a Cheshire East authority, continues to offer our residents the best option in future service provision.

And remember – Vale Royal is a great place to be at Christmas. There are lots of fun and festive activities for you to enjoy. I would like to wish everyone who lives, works in and visits the borough an enjoyable and peaceful Christmas.
