FEARS are growing for the safety of a missing Ellesmere Port man as police make another urgent appeal to trace his whereabouts.

There has been no contact from 64-year-old Anthony Lewis after he disappeared from the home he shares with his mother on Woodsome Drive, Whitby, on July 5.

The discovery of his silver BMW in Snowdonia a week later led police to believe he was in the North Wales area but, despite detectives scouring CCTV for clues, there has been no further information on his whereabouts.

Police are increasingly concerned for the welfare of Mr Lewis, whose estranged wife lives in Italy, and have reissued an appeal for help in tracing him.

Inspector Sharon Case said: “We are very concerned for Anthony’s safety and well-being and to have been missing for this long is of great concern to us and his family.

“I would ask the local communities think about whether they may have seen Anthony and contact Cheshire police with any information that may assist us in tracing his whereabouts.

“We would also appeal to Anthony himself to make contact with police or a family member, should he hear this appeal, to provide reassurance that he is indeed safe and well.”

Mr Lewis is 5ft 8in tall, wears glasses, is of slim build and has grey hair.

He was last seen wearing a navy-blue shirt and jeans and is not believed to have any money or bank cards in his possession.

Sgt Carl Ellis of Cheshire Constabulary said the search for Mr Lewis has involved many outlets.

He said: “Officers have been searching open area, woodland and waterways in Trefriw near Llanrwst, where his vehicle was found.”

“North Wales Police, mountain rescue, search and rescue dogs, Cheshire police search team officers, dog handlers and police underwater search team have all been involved in the search.”

If you have any information relating to Mr Lewis’s whereabouts you should call Cheshire police on 101, quoting incident 871 of July 5, 2012.
