AN ELLESMERE Port beauty therapist finished her course with a fairytale ending after winning a make up competition at West Cheshire College.

Rebecca Sailes, 21, who studied City and Guilds Beauty Therapy Level 3, entered the competition after choosing to specialise in make up for her final project.

The competition, open to all beauty therapy students, required participants to submit a photographic entry based on a fairytale inspired look, which was then judged by a panel of tutors.

Rebecca said: “I spent quite a while researching my idea, as I wanted something classic and understated. When I came up with the Snow White adaptation I knew it was the one.

“Despite having a strong interest in artificial nails, I really enjoyed doing make up application throughout my course and as a qualified beauty therapist I would love to be able to get a job that will allow me to do it all.”

With demand for specialist make up courses growing, West Cheshire College has launched a new course in beauty therapy.

The new City and Guilds NVQ in Beauty Therapy – Make-Up Route Level 2, is aimed at anyone wanting to go into makeup artistry and will include modules in eye treatments, facials, skincare, the art of skin camouflage and application of make-up.

Tutor Sarah Capper said: “We work closely with photography and hairdressing and often students do a combination of modules, but we’ve had a lot of enquiries about makeup artistry and thought it would be a great addition.”
