MEMORY fairs have raised more than £1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The money was raised over the summer at ‘memory fairs’ held across the North West, including Astbury Lodge and Whetstone Hey in Great Sutton, which celebrated the lives and memories of their residents, as part of Dementia Awareness Week.

Nick Dykes, chief executive of the care home provider, CLS Care Services, presented a cheque for £1,162.15 to Hazel Bayley, the Alzheimer's Society’s locality manager for Cheshire and St Helens last week.

CLS chief executive, Nick Dykes, said: “It was great to see so many members of the community turn out to support the memory fairs

“Many of our residents were truly touched to see others so interested in the stories and memorabilia they had to share.

“If the joy that came from just taking part in the memory fairs wasn’t enough, we’re honoured to be able to present the Alzheimer’s Society with this cheque.

“We hope it helps them continue the invaluable support they provide for people who have dementia and their families.”
