WREXHAM FC’s newly-formed former players’ association is staging an afternoon of nostalgia at the club’s Bamford Suite at the start of next month.
Former Racecourse director Charles Roberts will present filmed highlights from the 1960s and 1970s and conduct an auction of club memorabilia at the event, which provides fans with an opportunity to rub shoulders with former players such as Wyn Davies, Ray Mielczarek, Dave Gaskell, Alan Fox, Dixie McNeil, Ron Roberts, George Showell and others.
Since it was established in September, the association’s membership has grown to more than 80.
President Arfon Griffiths said: “We have attempted to contact all former players who have made a first-team appearance for Wrexham.
“However, we have drawn a blank with some, but it’s not been for the want of trying. Anyone we haven’t been able to contact can let us know where they are by phoning the club on 01978 262129.”
The event, which includes a buffet lunch, takes place on Sunday, February 3 (1pm) with a limited number of places available for supporters. Further details are available from the club shop or by contacting Peter Jones on 01978 362442.
Meanwhile, the FA of Wales have confirmed Wales under-21s will face England in a friendly international at the Racecourse on May 15.
