PHIL Jagielka’s dream of playing for Everton in the FA Cup Final has been shattered, after he suffered a injury in the Premier League match against Manchester City at Goodison Park on Saturday.

The England international – who converted the decisive penalty in the shoot-out win over Manchester United at Wembley last Sunday – ruptured the cruciate ligament in his left knee during Everton’s 2-1 defeat.

The star, whose extended family come from Weaverham and whose uncle is Winnington Park Hockey club stalwart Rick Jagielka, has been ruled out for the rest of the season and faces up to six months on the sidelines.
