STARS from Everton Football Club have backed a Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service campaign encouraging more people to join its volunteer programme.
Everton and England defender, Phil Jagielka, who is based in Cheshire, and team-mate Leighton Baines, took time out of training to offer their support.
The Service is encouraging people from all walks of life to volunteer with them to make Cheshire a safer place to live, work and travel. There are currently some 280 volunteers working with the county brigade.
Mark Burrage, from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We are delighted the Everton players have given their support to our campaign. Many people in Cheshire follow the club and having the backing of such a popular team is invaluable as we look to get more people involved in our volunteer programme.”
Volunteer activities include carrying out home safety assessments, acting out role plays of accidents, and youth work with The Prince’s Trust, working from their local fire station.
