THE oldest member of an evergreen family from Lostock turned 106 on Saturday.
And Fanny Billington, who has lived through the reign of five monarchs - and two world wars - was in good company.
Her surviving siblings Mary, 99, and Sarah, 93, and 'baby brother' Arthur, 89, who lives with Fanny at Crossways care home, joined her for the celebrations.
Born in 1903 - eight months before the Wright brothers flew the world’s first aeroplane - Fanny is now the head of one of Britain's oldest families.
But her 106th birthday was her first without sisters Ann and Jane, who both passed away a few months ago aged 90 and 102 respectively.
Sue Houghton, manager at Crossways, said: "Fanny is a lovely, cheerful lady who enjoys a laugh and a joke. She loves joining in with party activities at the home, especially singing!"
Fanny grew up in a three-bedroom terrace house in Lostock with her 11 siblings before working for the railways as a clerk during the Second World War. She later became a children's nanny and a school matron.
