AN EVENT aimed at providing information to local groups on how to access funding is taking place today (Thursday).

The fair is taking place at Brynteg Memorial Centre and offers advice on the sources of financial assistance available.

Organisations present include the Big Lottery Fund, Sefydliad, the Sports Council for Wales, the Arts Council for Wales, AVOW, the Welsh Development Agency, Wales Council for Voluntary Action, Weston Spirit North Wales, Wrexham County Borough Council's Economic Development department, the Social Risk Fund, the Institute of Fundraising Cymru and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The groups will discuss the ways they can help organisations in the area.

Some of the organisations will also give a series of 30-minute workshops offering opportunities to hear about eligibility, grants and making applications, and they will be available to answer questions.

Event organiser Julie Hughes said: 'We are looking forward to seeing many groups and organisations from as wide an area as possible and hope to improve their understanding of the many funding programmes that are available and also how to improve access to those funds.'

Anyone interested can call at the Memorial Centre between 10am and 4pm.

Details are available from Broughton community development officer Julie Hughes on 01978 756650.
