DELEGATES from Spain and Italy jetted into North Wales this week and visited Wrexham Jobcentre on a fact-finding mission.

Spanish and Italian representatives from the Equal Transnational Partnership attended a conference at Wrexham Jobcentre, which was designed to encourage EU countries to develop similar employment strategies and reduce the number of those out of work.

The Partnership looks at how Jobcentres across Europe deliver and develop customer services, and delegates from Wrexham spent the afternoon chatting to their European counterparts and exchanging ideas.

Gwyn Price, business development manager of Wrexham and North Wales Coast Jobcentre Plus, said: 'This was an excellent opportunity to show our European colleagues how we approach helping people find work and breaking down barriers to social inclusion.

'The Partnership provides us with the opportunity to look at old problems and develop innovative solutions to address them.'

Kathryn Cramer, Equal co-ordinator of Wrexham Council, added: 'We are very pleased to be working so closely with Jobcentre Plus and see our joint efforts contributing greatly towards the social and economic regeneration of our more deprived communities within Wrexham.'
