ENGLAND footballer Michael Owen's wife has given birth to the couple's second child, it was announced yesterday.
A spokesman for the couple said Louise Owen had given birth to James Michael Owen at the Countess of Chester Hospital at 12.56pm yesterday. He weighed 7lbs 9oz.
Former Liverpool FC star Michael, 26, who is currently recovering from an injury, said: "Louise and James are both doing well and we're all thrilled."
Owen, who moved from Real Madrid to Newcastle United in a £16m transfer deal last year, already has a two-year-old daughter Gemma Rose Owen, who was born in May, 2003.
The striker is currently sidelined from the pitch after breaking a metatarsal bone in his right foot during a match on New Year's Eve.
However, he hopes to play in the World Cup this summer and has even talked about possibly returning to play for Newcastle for the last month of this season.
Mrs Owen, 25, was last month banned from driving for 56 days at Newcastle Magistrates Court after she was caught doing 104mph on her way to pick her daughter up from nursery.
The couple, who married last year, first met at Rector Drew Primary School, at Hawarden, North Wales.
