A CHOIR marked the end of an era last week when its musical director retired after 52 years in the role.

Emrys Williams MBE, of Great Sutton Male Voice Choir, has decided to relinquish the post at the ripe old age of 93 for a younger person to take the reigns.

A small celebration was held at the choir’s AGM at Saint George’s Church in Chester Road, Little Sutton, where Emrys was presented with an engraved glass bowl.

Gwilym Lewis, Bryan Davies and Emyr Williams, of the North Wales Association of Male Voice Choirs, travelled to see Emrys, who has added so much to the musical life and culture of Ellesmere Port.
