THE Ellesmere Port & Neston Live at Home Scheme is celebrating the arrival of their new minibus.

Thanks to grants from the Fair Shares Lottery Fund, Help the Aged, with support from Q’Straint, and donations from members and volunteers the scheme was able to buy the specially adapted vehicle.

The minibus has a tail lift to enable older people to be able to get out and about.

The Live at Home Scheme supports older people living alone in their own homes and the new minibus enables them to transport more members to the Welcome Centre at Trinity Methodist Church in Ellesmere Port and the Luncheon Club in Neston, as well as shopping trips, outings and special events.

Following the official arrival of the minibus last week, a strawberry tea was held to celebrate, with all the scones being donated by The Coppermine Creamery in Whitby.

A spokesman for Live at Home said: “Staff and committee members, and volunteers are very grateful to everyone involved.”
