WOMEN in Ellesmere Port are being urged to seize their last chance to enter Tesco and Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

Places still remain for the 5k event in the city centre on Sunday, June 19, although 3,914 women have already accepted the charity’s invitation to ‘join the girls’ for the UK’s largest female-only fundraiser.

Event manager Gemma Turpin said: “We are absolutely thrilled so many women have entered Race for Life in Chester. Together they will help us create a fantastic atmosphere on the day and raise crucial funds to help beat cancer.

“Women of all ages, abilities, shapes and sizes take part in Race for Life. They motivate and inspire each other to complete the course. Many simply walk round, chatting and having fun but they all share the wonderful atmosphere.”

More than four thousand women took part in last year’s race in Chester, helping to raise £194,100 for Cancer Research UK’s work.

This year fundraisers can boost their contribution by taking unwanted clothes, books and accessories to the event’s Donation Station.

Entry closes on Thursday, June 16, and organisers are encouraging mums, daughters, grannies, sisters, friends and workmates to enter at www.raceforlife.org. uk or by calling 0871 641 1111.
