A WOMAN from Ellesmere Port has admitted benefit fraud amounting to more than £10,000.
Carolyn Edwards, of Horace Black Gardens, pleaded guilty to 13 charges at Chester Magistrates Court.
The 65-year-old admitted failing to report changes in her circumstances in order to claim housing and council tax benefit and pension credit. She failed to declare an absence from her address in excess of the entitlement periods and that she held capital in excess of the prescribed limits.
Mrs Edwards was overpaid benefits totalling £10,491. She was sentenced to a 12-month community punishment order and must undertake 150 hours of unpaid work.
She is also required to fully repay the overpaid benefit to Cheshire West and Chester Council and the Department for Work and Pensions.
