AN Ellesmere Port resident single-handedly raised £540 for the Moonlight Walk – the largest amount raised by anyone that took part –

Andrea Heard completed the overnight walk in London and the amount raised was match funded by her employer, E A Technology, with an additional £500.

More than 500 people took part in the walk, which helped raise £60,000 towards the Trusts’ Relative Comfort Appeal, and the fundraising team are hoping for even more support this year.

Andrea said: “I’ve really enjoyed taking part in the Moonlight Walk and the ironic thing is that I raised exactly the same amount of money in 2007. It’s a great event that allows a lot of local women to have fun while raising money for a worthy cause. With the changes that are taking place for this year’s walk, I imagine it will be a really fun night”

There will be a new Moonlight Walk 10 mile circular route around Chester, starting at the earlier time of 10pm, on Saturday, June 20.

The fundraising team is looking for marshals to help make sure the walk goes ahead smoothly and safely, so males are welcome to offer their assistance.

Pam Darch and Kathy Kenney from the fundraising team rewarded Andrea’s achievement with a top class bottle of champagne.

Events co-ordinator Kathy Kenney said: “This will be the fourth Moonlight Walk and hopefully with the new route and earlier start time, it will be the most successful ever. I would encourage as many local women to sign up as possible
