A TAXI driver died when he decapitated himself inside his private-hire car, an inquest heard this afternoon (Friday, August 27).
Stuart Roy Lester, 38, of Horstone Gardens, Great Sutton, was found slumped in the driver’s seat of his Cozey Cars cab on the car park of Ellesmere Port Market at 6.45am on Tuesday, January 19.
His body was discovered by a shocked supermarket worker on her way to work.
A paramedic confirmed that when he arrived at the scene Mr Lester’s head was missing from his body and what appeared to be rope was attached to a railing some distance behind the vehicle.
Mr Lester had suffered with depression since 2004.
The inquest into his death was held at Chester, Ellesmere Port and Neston Magistrates Court before Nicholas Leslie Rheinberg, HM Coroner for Cheshire.
A full report on the inquest will appear in next Wednesday’s edition of the Ellesmere Port Pioneer.
