A stylist took to an exercise bike and raised hundreds of pounds for the lifeboats.

Victoria Fay, 20, from Ellesmere Port works at Style Council on Overpool Road.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) was her late grand dad’s favourite charity and Victoria set out to make him the proudest man in the world.

Victoria’s challenge involved her riding outside Style Council for seven hours with 10 minutes in total of breaks.

Her fundraising, which raised more than £560, involved a raffle and a tombola with backing from across the town.

“I am absolutely made up with the outcome and so proud of myself for raising this amount,” said Victoria.

“I’d like to thank my managers Sue and Sonia of Style Council and their staff for all their help and support and of course all the customers and my family and friends for everything they have done to help me and support me, everybody has been amazing.

“Also a big thanks to all the shops that donated raffle prizes.”

These included Style Council, Thomas Telford, The Dining Room restaurant and Eden Hair salon at West Cheshire College, the newsagents on Overpool Road, Morrisons, Debonairs, Loreal, Jeff Cox’s florist, the Cooperative store and Sandwich Express.

“I know everybody is so proud of me and I know that my grand dad would be the proudest man in the world right now of me and I couldn’t be any happier,” added Victoria.

“However this would have never have been possible if it wasn’t for everybody who supported me, so thank you everybody who has supported me it meant and still means everything to me.”

It costs about £385,000 a day to run the RNLI, which, on average, rescues 22 people a day.
