CONFUSED curry lovers have struggled to rate the spiciness of their favourite dishes.
Few of the diners who took part in a survey to see if they could rate eight dishes in order of spiciness were able to complete the task.
A survey conducted by Sizzling Pub Company showed that locals in Ellesmere Port found it hard to tell their Madras from their masala.
When challenged to rank the curries on the Sizzling Curry Night menu in order of spiciness, only seven per cent managed to list all of the dishes correctly.
Over a third of respondents (35%) could only correctly identify the kick in a couple of curries, while the majority (42 per cent) only ranked four correctly.
Sean Conlan, manager at The Woodland in Ellesmere Port, explained: “With the massive popularity of curries I’m quite shocked that only seven per cent of people in Ellesmere Port can tell their Kashmiri from their korma.
“We pride ourselves on our curries here at The Woodland, hosting a dedicated curry night every week, where our customers can sample eight tasty dishes including chicken tandoori, chicken jalfrezi, mushroom dopiaza, beef kashmiri, chicken vindaloo, chicken balti, lamb rogan josh and chicken korma.
“I’m making it my mission to educate Ellesmere Port’s curry-lovers.”
