WITH a pass rate of 92%, of which 59% were graded C or better Ellesmere Port Specialist School of Performing Arts celebrated its best ever results.

The two top performers were Anneka Snelgrove, who achieved the equivalent of four grade As and one grade B, and Jordan Cunningham, who got the equivalent of three grade As and two grade Bs.

Headteacher Kevin McDermott said: “Congratulations and well done to our A-level students on achieving fantastic results. We expect 60% to go onto higher education.

“I would like to thank them, their parents and their teachers for all of their hard work and dedication towards their achievements.”

Cheshire Oaks High School headteacher Lynne Fox said: “We are delighted that despite a great deal of uncertainty throughout the academic year, a significant number of our students have achieved top marks.

“In many cases students have achieved results higher than their predicted grades and this reflects the hard work and commitment they have shown in their studies.”

Ellesmere Port Catholic High School headteacher Peter Lee said: “We are delighted for our sixth form students who have received their A2 and AS results.

“The scare stories in the national press about pressure on university places have proved to be unfounded and whilst standards are higher, students have risen to the challenge magnificently.

“Congratulations to them and to their parents and thanks to the staff here who have worked so hard in the past two years.”

For the fourth year running Neston High School was celebrating its best ever A-level results.

All 135 students who took exams passed with 50% achieving A and B grades.

Neston is celebrating a significantly higher than average number of passes in Maths, Sciences, English and Foreign Languages, while 10% of students achieved three or more A grades compared to the national average of 7%.

The top Performers were Thomas Banaszek, David Neary, Bethan Rimmington and Christopher Thomson, all with four A grades, and Jill Barrow, Ian Johnson, Katherine Maltby, Ban Randall, Helen Reeve and Ben Twells, who got three As.

Headteacher Steven Dool said: “We are very proud of what our students have achieved and now wish them every success on their future courses, at University, and in their chosen profession.”

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s children’s services executive member, councillor Arthur Harada, said: “Our resultsŠgive the new authority a very firm base on which to build for the future and I would like to congratulate everyone concerned, particularly our young people who have achieved so impressively.”
