ELLESMERE Port and Neston MP Andrew Miller has put pen to paper to contribute to a new book about wildlife.

He was one of 50 nature-lovers from across the North West to share his thoughts on conservation and discuss his favourite wildlife species.

The Independent’s environment editor Michael McCarthy, former BBC North West Tonight host Felicity Goodey and Eddisbury MP Stephen O’Brien were among the other names waxing lyrical about their favourite wildlife experiences.

The illustrated book has been supported by some of the top photographers in Cheshire and the UK and contains striking wildlife images, many of which have been donated, with all proceeds going to the trust.

In the book, Mr Miller discusses his personal favourite species, the fox, and reflects on privileged views from his back garden.

“We would watch from our darkened room, achingly leaning on the window sill for hours, quietly taking photos of the young cubs who were gaining confidence as they approached our cottage,” he said.

“Their fur dull in the summer’s night, lit only by stars and the glow from across the Mersey.”

The limited edition full-colour hardback is available from Cheshire Wildlife Trust via their website, by calling 01948 820728. It is priced at £9.95, with all proceeds going to support the trust’s conservation projects.
