MOST people who get involved do so to make a difference. Having been in Parliament for 18 years, I can say that applies to the majority of MPs.

Towards the end of the last Conservative government we saw the collapse of HH Robertson. I ran a campaign that went on for years that resulted in the creation of the Pension Protection Scheme, which today will benefit people from Bowaters and many others where pensions have run into problems. I have battled for the rights of agency workers and new regulations will come into force next year. My involvement in Vauxhall’s, Quinn Glass, M&S and other employment issues is well known.

We have to protect the economic wellbeing of our community and ensure that wealth is being produced to fund the investment in public services.

I have worked with schools and colleges, police, fire and health services to bring about change and these services are getting better. I have also worked with sporting organisations to engage young people as well as promoting healthy living.

A vote for me is a vote for experience and commitment.
