nELLESMERE Port and Neston Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate Stuart Penketh also attended the business event

He said: “I think it was a fantastic visit, we’ve had David Cameron come over to speak to local businesses to see how they are coping and what their thoughts are.

“It’s shown the Conservatives are interested in businesses in the area and are taking an active role in trying to promote industry and coming up with ideas to protect the manufacturing base that’s vital to the region, especially in Ellesmere Port and Neston.

“We are not only coming up with plans to keep businesses going, but also for the strategic long-term future of the nation’s manufacturing bases such as bringing technical schools to educate the next generation of people.

“I think this shows that nothing can be taken for granted by Labour, the reception here was fantastic by local business leaders and employees.

“It shows that this isn’t an impregnable Labour fortress, this is a marginal and hopefully we can take it.”
