A MOTORIST who refused to be breath tested when asked to by police has been banned from driving.

Brian Wardle, 50, of Highfield Road, Ellesmere Port, was asked to provide a breath sample on Blacon Avenue, Chester, on February 13.

But Wardle, who was uninsured and did not have a driving licence, refused and magistrates at Chester Ellesmere Port & Neston Magistrates Court fined him £520, plus £60 costs.

Wardle was banned from driving for 16 months, although this will be reduced to 12 months if he successfully completes a road safety course which provides specific guidelines on how to drive safely.
