THE Pioneer contacted one distributor of mephedrone who boasted via an online advert to offering the only delivery service in Wirral and Cheshire – with most orders received within the hour.
Known only as ‘Mike’ and advertising on free online classified website, he offers a price list for quantities of mephedrone ranging from £13 for one gram to £130 for 15 grammes.
The advert asks: “Looking for the purest most sought after product available today?
“Then you’ve come to the right place. Combined with our prices and excellent same day delivery service there is nowhere better to buy from.”
It goes on to promise: “You can call us 7 days a week between 6am and midnight for immediate delivery.
“Our product is the finest on the market sold at the best price backed up with fast reliable service and that’s a promise!”
When The Pioneer called the mobile number given on the website on Monday, a man, identifying himself as Mike, claimed that after the recent tragic deaths of two Scunthorpe teenagers he had decided to stop the chemical compound, meant for use as a plant feeder.
He said: “I’ve withdrawn from the marketplace, I’m aware that it is legal but now that it’s been linked to the boys’ death I don’t want anymore to do with it.
“The reality is that someone has died from it and it is being abused.”
Despite identifying mephedrone by it’s street name 4MMC and Meow Meow within his advertisement, he claimed to be selling it for use exclusively as a plant feeder.
He confirmed that as well as warning it was not for human consumption in the advertisement, he had also made customers make a disclaimer that they would use the product responsibly
He added: “I’ve only been delivering for two-and-half-weeks, I’ve made a total of four deliveries to more mature people who signed a disclaimer about it’s use.”
