Christmas arrived in Ellesmere Port last night (Thursday, November 27) when mayor Brian Jones led the community in switching on the town’s festive lights.

The event, which began at 5.30pm in Civic Square, was hosted by Dee Radio 106.3, the Our Place Locality Team from Cheshire West and Chester Council and Plus Dane Group.

Cllr Jones was joined by the Ellesmere Port Sea Cadet Band, TS Forward to lead pupils from local schools in the lantern parade.

When the parade returned to the square the new Primary Schools Choir sang carols as the lights on the tree were switched on.

Reindeers and their elf helpers from Lime Tree Farm were there with Kaleidoscope Faces offering face-painting for free. Links Healthy Living Centre were also handing out homemade hot ‘n’ tasty non-alcoholic mulled wine to keep everyone warm.
