AGE UK Cheshire is calling on nimble-fingered knitters to whip out their wool and needles and create little woolly hats for Age UK and Innocent’s Big Knit 2012.

Now in its ninth year, The Big Knit raises funds for local and national projects to help keep older people warmer in winter.

Knitters across the UK are being asked to flex their creative muscles and knit little woolly hats which will adorn Innocent smoothie bottles in Sainsbury’s stores from November 21. For each be-hatted smoothie sold Innocent will give 25p to Age UK’s Spread the Warmth campaign.

Knitters can contact Age UK Cheshire to get a simple free hat pattern.

For those who don’t fancy making a hat themselves, wool and needles can be donated to Georgina Alexander-Pulham, fundraiser and marketing officer at Age UK Cheshire. The address is 314 Chester Road, Hartford, Cheshire, CW8 2AB.

For more information on The Big Knit, call Georgina at Age UK on 01606 305 000 or email georgina.alexander@ageukcheshire.org.uk. Send completed hats to the address above.
